Frustrated fans and analysts blast Brooklyn’s front office after a polarizing draft headlined by Mikel Brown Jr., questioning if the new additions can salvage the league's worst shooting.

The 2026 NBA Draft went underway on Tuesday, June 23rd and concluded on June 24th. Some in the media were not quite happy with some of the picks made by the  Brooklyn Nets.

The Nets had three draft picks in the 2026 NBA Draft. On a video in the New York Post official X page, Adam Schein voiced his displeasure for the picks they made.

"The Brooklyn Nets should fold the franchise,” Schein said. “Clearly this organization has no idea what they’re doing.”

Brooklyn Nets Draft Picks

In the first round of the 2026 NBA Draft, the Nets drafted guard Mikel Brown Jr. out of Louisville with the sixth overall pick. Brown averaged 18.2 points, 4.7 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game in 21 games throughout his freshman season in 2025. He excels at scoring the basketball and is a play-maker.

He did miss 14 games due to a back injury. In spite of time missed, he was named to the All-ACC Rookie Team and Third-Team All-ACC. Brown is being added to a back court with Brooklyn veteran Egor Denim and others.

Brooklyn selected Iowa State forward Joshua Jefferson with the 28th overall pick. Jefferson started his college basketball career at Saint Mary's, and didn't do much his freshman season, just accumulating 2.2 points a game. But in his sophomore year there, Jefferson averaged 10.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists.

After a good sophomore campaign, Jefferson transferred to Iowa State in 2024. His point averaged increased in his junior season with 13.0 in 2024 and in 2025 for his senior year, he totaled 16.4.

Jefferson is known for his passing and play-making but athleticism hasn't been up to par at times in the post but his defense assists him on the court. Jefferson was named Second-Team All American in his senior year at Iowa State.

The Nets also drafted another forward in the second round with the 43rd pick, Tyler Bilodeau out of UCLA. Bilodeau started his college basketball career at Oregon State in 2022 and transferred to UCLA in 2024.

In his last season for the Bruins in 2025, Bilodeau averaged 17.6 points and 5.6 rebounds. Bildodeau does well shooting, especially from the three point line, gaining an average of 46.4%.

Bilodeau can do well for the Nets in that regard as Brooklyn only averaged 34.0% from three, which was ranked 30th in the NBA In the 2025-2026 season.
