N3on opened up to Michael Porter Jr. on the Brooklyn Nets star’s podcast about how fame has affected his happiness, the pressure to stay relevant, and why taking a break from streaming is harder than it sounds.
Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. sat down with popular streamer N3on for a revealing conversation about internet fame, the pressure to stay relevant, and why becoming successful has not necessarily made him happier.
During the latest episode of Curious Mike, Porter asked N3on about his rise in the streaming world, his financial success, and the sacrifices he has made to build his career. While N3on has gained opportunities to meet celebrities, travel the world, and earn significant money, he admitted that fame has not brought him the happiness he once expected.
When Porter asked whether he was happier now than before he became famous, N3on gave a blunt answer.
“Worse,” N3on said, explaining that he was happier when he could simply stay home and play video games with his friends.
Despite everything he has accomplished, N3on said he struggles to appreciate how far he has come because he is always focused on what comes next. Money and views never seem to be enough, leaving him chasing continued growth instead of enjoying the success he already has.
That mindset has also affected his life outside streaming.
“I gave up my life to my work,” N3on said.
He explained that his daily routine revolves around streaming, communicating with his team, planning content, and traveling to different cities. Even when he is not live, he is usually doing something related to his next stream.
The schedule has helped N3on build his platform, but it has also made it difficult for him to step away. He told Porter that he plans to keep streaming until people stop watching, suggesting that he has no immediate plans to voluntarily leave the industry.
Still, the idea of taking a break has crossed his mind. When Porter asked whether he had considered stepping away for a month to enjoy his life, N3on admitted that he was worried he might not want to return.
“I think I would say, ‘I did it. I have the money. I'm done,’” he explained.
That fear is tied to N3on's concern about falling off. He discussed experiencing a decline in popularity after previously gaining momentum and how that affected different parts of his life. Having seen how quickly attention can change, he remains determined to keep growing his platform.
N3on also discussed how he handles the money he earns. A significant portion goes back into producing content, including paying staff, covering travel expenses, and booking flights and hotels, sometimes at the last minute. He said his father manages and invests his money, leaving him with very little in his personal bank account.
For N3on, the motivation goes beyond money. He said seeing his content perform well and watching his platform grow keeps him going, even as he worries about what will happen when the attention eventually fades.
Porter also encouraged him to think about how he could use his platform to make a positive impact. Rather than constantly chasing views and success, helping others could give him a different sense of fulfillment. N3on expressed interest in pursuing more positive projects, including a planned fitness transformation with fellow creator Fousey.
The conversation showed a different side of N3on than the viral clips and controversial moments many viewers associate with him. Behind the success is someone who feels pressure to keep working because he is afraid of losing what he has built.
His conversation with Porter raised a question that goes beyond streaming: what happens when achieving the goal you spent years chasing still doesn't make you happy? For N3on, finding an answer may be more difficult than reaching the next milestone.
