The Brooklyn Nets' No. 8 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft Egor Dëmin's impact as a rookie has been louder than ever as of late, but he's seemed to have taken control of a certain stat category in a relatively quiet manner.
Dëmin's on-court production has been comprised of skillful catch-and-shoot three-point hits and an overall high basketball I.Q., and it's become more evident than ever when taking a peak at the advanced stats.
Through his first 31 appearances for the Nets to begin his NBA career, the fearless Russian product has boasted impressive numbers in the on/off department, and ClutchPoints' Erik Slater recently took notice.
"The Nets are 9.2 points better per 100 possessions with Egor Demin on the court vs. off, per CleaningTheGlass," Slater shared via X on Thursday afternoon.
"That's the highest mark among all NBA rookies and the 18th-highest among all players (minimum 500 minutes)."
According to stats from CleaningTheGlass, Dëmin has made the Nets 9.2 points better per 100 possessions, already making him one of Brooklyn's most valuable pieces in the context of winning basketball games.
Aside from the advanced stats, Dëmin's averages of 10.2 points, 3.5 assists and 3.4 rebounds have already made him one of the Nets' more obviously important pieces, but his contributions both offensively and defensively are really what makes up this figure.
Dëmin's defensive numbers don't necessarily jump off of the page, but he's become a serviceable situational and team defender with a solid 0.9-steal figure. He might not rise up for an emphatic block or come away with a steal in a one-on-one defensive matchup, but his help defense has been a strong part of his game early this season.
Offensively, his shooting, especially off the dribble in transition, provides this Nets team with a healthy level of unpredictability whenever they receive a chance to push the ball on the break. At any moment, Dëmin has displayed an ability to pull back for a step-back three-pointer when the defense is caught off-balance, something that could develop into a major strength of his.
He's also developed fantastically in the catch-and-shoot realm as a lethal corner threat, evidenced by a blistering 45.5% shooting clip from the corners.
Dëmin surely still has some kinks to work out with regard to his rim-running, finishing at the basket and overall lack of shot-making from inside the three-point line, but the clear abilities that he's shown off to this point will give the Nets plenty of hope as a franchise for the distant future.
