Michael Porter Jr. and Egor Dëmin brought plenty of personality to NBA 2K27’s “Deflected,” answering awkward questions, roasting teammates, and sharing some hilarious stories along the way.
Michael Porter Jr. and Egor Dëmin gave Nets fans a pretty good look at what they’re like when they’re not on the basketball court.
The Brooklyn teammates recently appeared on NBA 2K27’s “Deflected,” where players have to answer uncomfortable questions while playing each other in 2K. If you score, you’re safe. If you get scored on, you have to answer.
That setup made for some funny moments between Porter and Dëmin, especially as the questions moved from basketball to their teammates and some of their experiences off the court.
One of Dëmin’s best stories came when he was asked about the worst argument he’s had with a coach.
Dëmin went back to when he was playing basketball in Russia as a kid. He explained that he had been playing with kids a year older than him before going back to play with his own age group to help the team in a tournament.
Things apparently didn’t go very well with the coach.
Dëmin said the coach got on him during the game, and eventually he had enough. He left the game and went to sit next to his mother in the crowd.
He was only around 12 years old at the time, and Dëmin revealed it actually happened twice with the same team.
His mother wasn’t exactly thrilled, but she also didn’t know what had happened. There was a happy ending, though. Dëmin said the team ended up winning the tournament and he picked up multiple MVP awards.
Porter had his own childhood story to share when Dëmin was asked which teammate would have the hardest time working a traditional 9-to-5 job.
Dëmin immediately went with Danny Wolf, saying Wolf would struggle to sit still and work for eight hours.
That led Porter to reveal that he actually worked a regular job growing up. His parents owned a snow cone stand, and Porter said they made their kids work there.
Dëmin wasn’t completely convinced that six-hour shifts at a snow cone stand qualified as a real 9-to-5, which turned into a pretty funny exchange between the two.
Porter also brought up one of Dëmin’s rookie-year stories involving a Nets Halloween party.
According to Porter, Dëmin went all out for the event and showed up dressed as an avatar. Dëmin said he spent about four hours putting everything together.
The problem came afterward.
Dëmin was dropped off at the wrong location in Brownsville around 1 a.m. He ended up calling Terance Mann, who gave him a pretty simple warning.
“You better stay alive out there,” Mann told him.
Dëmin also had to answer a question about which teammate he wouldn’t let date his sister. He picked Ben Saraf, explaining that Saraf is young and likes being single.
The questions weren’t all about the Nets, either.
When asked which former NBA player who is now an analyst talks the most, Porter went with Austin Rivers, while Dëmin eventually settled on Kendrick Perkins.
The best moment of the episode may have come when Dëmin was forced to call a teammate and tell them he missed them, with no other explanation.
Naturally, he called Mann.
The problem was that Dëmin had just seen him the night before.
“I just miss you, dog,” Dëmin told him.
Mann immediately questioned why Dëmin was calling him to say that after they had just seen each other. The conversation eventually turned wholesome, though, with the two teammates exchanging “I love you” before hanging up.
Dëmin was also pretty pleased with himself on the virtual court.
After the game, he made sure to point out that he wanted everyone to know how dominant he was at 2K.
“I came here and took care of business,” Dëmin said.
The episode quickly drew attention from fans in the comments, with several people praising Dëmin’s personality. One commenter called him a “master instigator,” while another said they wanted to see him appear in more content.
Others pointed to the chemistry between Dëmin and Porter, as well as the friendship between Dëmin and Mann.
For Dëmin, it was another chance to show Nets fans a side of him that they don’t always get to see during games. And judging by the reaction, fans seem to be enjoying that side of him.
