Nets' Danny Wolf Reacts to Draymond Green's Words Toward Him cover image

Is Danny Wolf appreciative of the NBA champion's comments toward him?

Danny Wolf received a new nickname in his NBA debut. One that certainly got the Brooklyn Nets rookie's attention: "Jewish Joker."

He's earned comparisons to NBA champion big man Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets -- especially with Wolf displaying his own uncanny dribbling and passing ability.

Multiple NBA champion Draymond Green, however, heard enough of the moniker. He dropped this take more than a week ago about the "Jewish Joker"

“We got the Jewish Joker, now. We got the baby Joker [Alperen Sengun, Derik Queen]. Enough, man,” Green said on his podcast. “Like, Mehmet Okur was a great player. No one ever wants to compare anyone to Mehmet Okur. They’re just Joker. Like, I have to f**king guard Joker. You mean to tell me everyone’s just Joker? F**k outta here. No disrespect to Danny Wolf, I haven’t played against him. But enough of comparing everybody to Joker.”

Yes indeed, the forward for the Golden State Warriors is yet to defend or face Wolf in a live game. That won't happen in 11 days to help close out December.

However, Wolf reacted to the nickname -- and Green's comments via Nets insider Brian Lewis of the New York Post Thursday.

"Being compared to the greatest player in the world is cool...But in all honesty I don't really play that much like him," Wolf said of Jokic.

Yet, how does he feel about Green's critique of the first-year player?

"I don’t have too many thoughts on (Green) but it was definitely an interesting clip," Wolf said.

One has to wonder if Wolf will have Green's viral comments in mind once these teams meet on Dec. 29. Or if Green will play the psychological game with the rookie -- which he's known for when facing his opponents on the hardwood.

Meanwhile, the Nets and Warriors are going in different directions. Brooklyn is more than 10 games below .500 compared to Golden State. Although Green's Warriors were a game behind .500 before facing the Phoenix Suns on Thursday.

Wolf holds this stat advantage among members of his 2025 rookie class: He leads the league in net rating.

"I'd be (lying) to say I don’t have a chip on my shoulder to not only prove others wrong and just prove myself right," Wolf said to Lewis. "I'm going to have that chip on my shoulder as long as I'm in this league."

Wolf entered Thursday averaging 8.7 points per game.
