The Brooklyn Nets made history in this past NBA draft, becoming the first team in league history to make five first-round selections.
Brooklyn decided to keep all five picks, selecting four guards and one forward.
Danny Wolf, the lone forward, rounded out these selections, coming off the board at No. 27. Wolf is averaging 8.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per game, while gradually increasing his playing time throughout the season.
Following the draft, Wolf expressed his excitement to be a Net.
"It’s a dream come true to be here. Brooklyn is an unbelievable place. It’s one of the best cities in the world," Wolf told reporters in a post-draft interview. "Great front office, great coaching staff. I really like the direction of where we’re going."
He also has quickly become a fan favorite thanks to his signature scoring sound. Every time the rookie scores at Barclays Center, a wolf howls over the loud speakers, with Nets fans joining in the call.
In the past week, Wolf has taken a serious jump, increasing his scoring average to 17.7 over the past few games, including a career high 23-point performance Sunday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Wolf scored an early eight points, knocking down two 3-pointers, including a right-wing long ball at the first-quarter buzzer. Wolf also displayed his playmaking ability, converting four assists in the first half.
Unfortunately, Wolf's career game wasn't enough for Brooklyn to end its now eight-game skid, as the Nets fell 106-102.
Despite the team's struggles, Wolf's development is promising for a team looking to rebuild for the future. Following the game, Wolf spoke on lessons he can take from the loss.
"I hate saying you can learn from a loss because it stings and it sucks, and losing as a competitor is one of the worst feelings," Wolf told reporters after the game. "But with such a young group, the resilience of the fight when you lose to a team by four that you lost (to) by 40 a week ago -- speaks volumes to improvement."
Wolf has the opportunity to build on his recent success Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. ET against the Miami Heat. This marks Wolf's first time traveling to Kaseya Center in his young NBA career.
