Mikel Brown Jr. enters the virtual arena with elite shooting and defensive traits, cementing a high-potential backcourt duo alongside Egor Demin for the rebuilding Brooklyn Nets.

The Brooklyn Nets were among one of the more active teams league-wide this offseason, making multiple signings in free agency and a blockbuster trade for Julius Randle before draft night.

The following day, the Nets drafted their point guard of the future in Mikel Brown Jr., who showed flashes of special talent on both ends in his limited time at the 2026 NBA Summer League.

On Monday, NBA 2K, who is ramping up for 2K27, released the top-10 rankings for rookies from this year's class, with Brown coming in at a 74 overall.

Trailing the top four picks, Los Angeles Clippers guard Keaton Wagler (75), and Sacramento Kings guard Darius Acuff Jr. (75), Brown has the seventh-highest rating.

While how the game developers got to this rating remains to be seen, expect Brown's top attributes to be his 3-point shot, steal, and pass accuracy - three skills he displayed in Las Vegas.

At Summer League, Brown averaged 16.7 points, 4.0 assists, and 1.7 steals per game, displaying the playmaking abilities that made him the No. 6 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.

After missing the beginning of the California Classic, Brown worked his way back to significant minutes, looking more comfortable and dynamic with each game.

In his first appearance, Brown delivered multiple high-level wraparound passes to his teammates on the wing, while also knocking down a corner 3-pointer for his first professional basket.

Defensively, Brown looked like a difference-maker, using his length and size to pressure opposing guards and force turnovers.

Alongside second-year guard Egor Demin, who also had a very strong showing at Summer League, the Nets' front office has to be feeling good about the future of the backcourt in Brooklyn.

This pair has already been seen hanging out with each other off the court and has even earned a nickname from the basketball world on X - the Aura Bros.

"The Aura Bros? I've seen that a little bit. He's been a really good friend of mine ever since he's here..." Demin told ClutchPoints reporter Kris Pursiainen in mid-July. "I think we have a really good opportunity to be around each other a little bit, get to know each other. Get to feel what it is for the regular season, for the main team... I'm very happy with the idea of me and him being a duo, backcourt. I'm very happy."

At Louisville, Brown was one of the most-dynamic guards in the country, posting multiple gamebreaking performances as a freshman.

In a 40-point blowout win over ACC-rival NC State, Brown tied a program-record with 45 points, shooting over 60-percent from the field and 3-point range.

Brown seemingly couldn't miss from deep, knocking down 10-of-16 long balls and knocking down all seven of his free throws.

His 45-point outburst tied Wes Unseld’s single-game scoring record in Louisville history.

Brown's ability to space the floor and playmake is a perfect fit alongside Brooklyn's wing pair of Randle and Michael Porter Jr. who benefit from players kicking out to them for drives or shot opportunities.
