Brooklyn Nets teammates Egor Dëmin and Joshua Jefferson traded the basketball court for a trip through New York City's transit history, exploring historic subway cars, trying their hand at driving a bus, and sharing plenty of laughs along the way.

Brooklyn Nets teammates Egor Dëmin and Joshua Jefferson recently took a break from basketball to explore the New York Transit Museum, where they learned about the history of the city's subway system and got a look at how public transportation has changed over the years.

The two players appeared in a video shared by the New York Transit Museum, taking viewers along as they explored historic train cars, checked out vintage buses, and joked around while learning more about the city.

The trip started with Dëmin and Jefferson trying to figure out their subway route. Along the way, they talked about the noise inside stations and the performers who entertain passengers on the trains. Jefferson even rated one performer's act a seven or eight out of 10.

The two also discussed whether they would ever take the subway to a Nets game. Neither seemed particularly interested in making that a regular part of their routine.

Once they arrived at the museum, the players learned that it opened in 1976 and is located inside a decommissioned subway station. Unlike a traditional museum, visitors can walk through historic train cars and get a closer look at the vehicles that once transported New Yorkers around the city.

One of the first stops was an elevated train car that operated above ground before the city developed its modern subway system. The players learned why elevated lines eventually disappeared from much of Manhattan, with increased car traffic and complaints from property owners among the reasons behind their removal.

Dëmin and Jefferson also explored several generations of subway cars, including the Red Bird trains that many New Yorkers remember from the 1980s and later years. They compared the older cars with today's trains and learned about open-gangway designs, which allow passengers to move between connected cars.

The pair had plenty of fun along the way, too. While checking out the museum's bus collection, Jefferson got behind the wheel of a vintage bus and joked that being a bus driver was his dream. The two pretended to direct passengers and drive through the streets, trading jokes as they explored another part of the collection.

Before wrapping up their visit, Dëmin and Jefferson took part in a game to see who could name more subway lines. The friendly competition ended with some trash talk, as the two continued joking with each other.

They also checked out the museum's souvenirs before reflecting on the experience. The visit gave both players a chance to learn something new about New York City while enjoying a day away from the basketball court.

Dëmin is entering his second NBA season with Brooklyn, while Jefferson is preparing for his first after joining the Nets as a rookie. As the two continue getting settled in the city, the museum visit offered a fun way to learn more about the place they will call home during the season.

Between the historic trains, the bus-driving jokes, and their attempts to name subway lines, the two Nets teammates made the most of their trip to the New York Transit Museum.
