Nolan Traore Earns 'Confident' Take for Latest Nets Outing cover image

The Brooklyn Nets rookie received a rave review from one league insider for his recent play.

Nolan Traore delivered just one double-digit scoring night. It wasn't on Monday night either against the Dallas Mavericks.

He got quiet on the scoring end during the Brooklyn Nets' 113-105 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on the road. Yet the first-year player is proving he doesn't need to impact the game or the Nets on the shooting/scoring side.

One league insider is noticing some growth out of one of the five first rounders the Nets pulled in.

Erik Slater of ClutchPoints is charting the development of the French talent. He's observed the peripheral vision of Traore when he's possessing the basketball. But he's examined the cerebral aspect and if that skillset is improving.

Slater dropped this truncated, yet strong, scouting report following the Nets' loss at American Airlines Arena.

"Nolan Traore is seeing the floor very well in these last two games. Looks very confident reading defensive coverages," Slater posted on the social media website X, formerly known as Twitter.

Traore is fresh off producing a career-best six assists against the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday night. He matched that against the Mavericks.

Slater isn't the only one noticing the trajectory of the rook. One fan also raved about the development after the eight-point Nets defeat -- including his shot selection.

"Nolan Traore is very much an unfinished product at guard but he has something in his bag that I think all guards should have — a floater," the fan account Point Made Basketball posted. "Being as quick and explosive as he is, having a floater allows him to exploit and attack defenses on their back foot."

The same fan account also focused on a quick reaction moment Traore executes -- culminating in a one-handed slam by Noah Clowney.

There is, however, a big area of improvement that Slater brought up.

"Nolan Traore is 5/26 (19.2%) from three over his last seven games, including tonight. He's looked good in other areas, but the three-point stroke will continue to be a question moving forward," Slater posted

Traore hasn't scored past six points since Jan. 2 against the Washington Wizards (scored a season-high 12 that evening). But Traore has flashed as a facilitator -- and showing that the organs above his nose is becoming a strength.
