Kobe Bufkin has spent each of his first two seasons playing for the Atlanta Hawks.

He finished last year with averages of 5.3 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per contest while shooting 38.3% from the field and 21.1% from the three-point range in ten games.

This week, the former Michigan standout was traded to the Brooklyn Nets.

Via ESPN's Shams Charania: "The Atlanta Hawks are trading guard Kobe Bufkin to the Brooklyn Nets for cash considerations, sources tell ESPN. Bufkin was Atlanta's No. 15 pick in the 2023 NBA draft, and this now gives him a fresh opportunity in Brooklyn, and the Hawks some roster flexibility."

At 21, Bufkin could be an intriguing addition to a Nets franchise that has been known to get the most out of their players.

He was the 15th pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.

Via Michael Scotto of HoopsHype: "The Brooklyn Nets will acquire Kobe Bufkin from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for cash considerations ($110,000), sources told @hoopshype . Bufkin is owed $4.5 million this season with a team option for 2026-27. Hawks get more room below the luxury tax line. ESPN first to report."

The Nets finished last season as the 12th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 26-56 record.

They last made the NBA playoffs during the 2023 season.

As for the Hawks, they lost to the Orlando Magic and Miami Heat in the play-in tournament, so they also missed the 2025 NBA playoffs.
