Tyler Herro is coming off the best season of his NBA career where he made his first trip to the All-Star Game.

The former Kentucky star had averages of 23.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.5 assists per contest while shooting 47.2% from the field and 37.5% from the three-point range in 77 games.

That said, ESPN's Shams Charania reported big news about Herro (on Friday).

Via Charania: "Miami Heat All-Star Tyler Herro is undergoing surgery on his left foot and will be sidelined to begin the 2025-26 season, sources tell ESPN."

Many people reacted to the news on social media.

Keith Smith: "Depending on how long Tyler Herro is out, Norman Powell takes on a much bigger role for the Heat. Not having Herro is a major blow to Miami's offense. Powell will help cover that, but who picks up the rest? Spo has a lot of work to do to get this offense into even a decent spot."

Tim Reynolds: "It's a somewhat complicated issue for Heat All-Star Tyler Herro, and everyone was hoping to avoid surgery that is going on this morning. My guess is a couple months; a month into the season might be a good timetable. That's 16 games. Interesting lineups await."

Anthony Chiang: "Multiple sources confirm that Heat guard Tyler Herro is undergoing surgery on his left foot/ankle today. Herro won't be available for the start of the season. More details to come ..."

Brady Hawk: "Heat will be back to a similar outlook as last year with Norman Powell just stepping into the role Tyler Herro played much of last season Awful news that Herro will be missing a chunk of time Back to trying to claw their way to an average offense"

Jon Metler:" "It’s going to be the Norman Powell show to start the season, with Tyler Herro out. Herro’s injury also creates an opportunity for Pelle Larsson to carve out a role in the backcourt."

The Heat got swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 2025 NBA playoffs.

They have been to the NBA Finals twice since the 2020 season.
