Pelicans' center DeAndre Jordan chosen among 12 finalists for Teammate of the Year award.
The NBA has named its selection for the Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award, recognizing New Orleans Pelicans center DeAndre Jordan.
The award celebrates the player that is considered the best teammate across the association considering their on and off the court leadership. Jordan was added to the Pelicans' roster for exactly that purpose to mentor an otherwise young group of players over the course of a rocky season.
For more on Jordan's contributions to the Pelicans, here is a look at his impact with the team from Pelicans Roundtable writer Dylan Sanders.
Along with Jordan, league executives named 12 total finalists for the award including six from each conference. The group of a dozen is then voted on by current NBA players in order to determine a winner.
The 12 finalists and voting results were:
- DeAndre Jordan, New Orleans Pelicans - 1,445 points (66 first-place votes)
- Jrue Holiday, Portland Trail Blazers - 1,437 (39)
- Jeff Green, Houston Rockets - 1,420 (57)
- Garrett Temple, Toronto Raptors - 1,223 (46)
- Pat Connaughton, Charlotte Hornets - 672 (26)
- Jalen Brunson, New York Knicks - 659 (33)
- Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics - 651 (27)
- De'Aaron Fox, San Antonio Spurs - 640 (29)
- Duncan Robinson, Detroit Pistons - 525 (12)
- Jaylin Williams, Oklahoma City Thunder - 471 (25)
- Desmond Bane, Orlando Magic - 445 (18)
- Marcus Smart, Los Angeles Lakers - 424 (7)
The award was introduced following the 2012-2013 season with 14 award-winners named.
Jordan is now the second New Orleans player to be recognized for the honor, joining Holiday's 2019-20 season honor. Holiday is the only player to receive the award three times while the only other repeat winner in the award's history is Memphis Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley.
