Fueled by a stifling defense and a record-shattering scoring differential, New York is pushing for a sweep in the Eastern Conference Finals following a dominant, multi-series tear through the postseason.

The New York Knicks are on a historic run in the NBA postseason and now look poised to storm through the Eastern Conference Finals after taking a commanding 2-0 lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

New York has been nothing short of dominant on its latest stretch which included a 4-3 series win over the Atlanta Hawks in the first round and a tenacious sweep of the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round.

Now, the team is halfway to a second consecutive sweep over the Cavaliers, who appear to be on the ropes after a pair of back-to-back 10-plus-point losses which included a 22-point comeback victory for the Knicks in Game 1.

Knicks guard Josh Hart credits the team's selflessness for their remarkable postseason performances. For more on that, Knicks Roundtable writer Jeremy Lambert has an in-depth look.

Beyond the team's lack of selfishness, what has truly led the way for the Knicks is simple: great defense.

Through the last nine games, New York has a scoring differential of an incredible plus-212. That mark is the largest for any NBA team in the league's history, regular or postseason, over a nine-game stretch, per ESPN Insights.

While not being self-centered certainly helps in spreading the ball around and creating more scoring opportunities, it's the relentless defensive play that makes this all possible for the Knicks

New York has surrendered just 100.6 points per game over the course of the postseason so far, but through their winning streak, the team has only given up 98.8 per contest.

Game 3 between the Knicks and Cavaliers tips off at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC. The Cavs' best hope to stay alive now is to steal a game or two at home as the series heads to Cleveland for the next two games.
