The Denver Nuggets became the first team in NBA history to meet this metric off historic performances by their two stars.

The Denver Nuggets have a star duo in Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic, and with that comes an array of historic performances they’ve put on for the franchise. They had a rare night on Wednesday where both stars did so at the same time. Not just that, but their efforts put the Nuggets alone in league history. Murray scored a season-high 53 points in their 142-135 win over the Dallas Mavericks, while Jokic had his 30th triple-double this season – and nearly a 20-20-20 game – with 23 points, 21 rebounds and 19 assists. Together, those efforts made Denver the first team in NBA history to have one player record 50 points and one with at least 15 points, 15 rebounds and 15 assists in the game, according to ESPN.

The franchise cornerstones have won 400 games over 10 seasons with the Nuggets, including postseason runs. Jokic was drafted No. 41 in the second round of the 2014 NBA draft by Denver, and the team selected Murray No. 7 overall two years later in the 2016 draft. It only took two years for them to reach the postseason, and six seasons to win the franchise’s first-ever NBA title. So, the historic nights have certainly been aplenty, but Thursday’s was special.

Here is the full story from Nuggets Roundtable writer Jack Haslett on Denver head coach David Adelman breaking down Murray’s special night.

The duo has led Denver to No. 4 in the Western Conference and are poised to have a playoff run while both are hitting their stride.
