Will Milwaukee Bucks Move Their Two-Time MVP at Trade Deadline? cover image

The Milwaukee Bucks seem to be inching closer to trading away their franchise star who is reportedly open to a move.

The Milwaukee Bucks have some tough decisions to make ahead of the NBA trade deadline on the future of their organization after entering this year in a tough bind. Between injuries, aging core pieces, and departing foundational players, 2025 hasn’t panned out for the Bucks, and it may lead to them parting ways with the face of their franchise. Sources told ESPN Wednesday that two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is looking to find a new home – and unsurprisingly, teams are clamoring at the chance to make a splash offer.

With Milwaukee sitting 2.5 games back from the No. 10 seed in the Eastern Conference, they don’t have many hopes to contend this year. That’s compounded by Antetokounmpo now being sidelined for weeks with an injury. The Bucks aren’t necessarily in a rush to send off their star, especially if the return haul doesn’t suffice. They could possibly wait until the summer to recoup more draft picks. But with sources reporting that Antetokounmpo has been telling Milwaukee for months that he believes it’s time to move on, should they just take the chance and embrace a future with a rebuild?

Here is the full story from Bucks Roundtable writer Liam Willerup making a case for the tough call on Antetokounmpo.

Antetokounmpo won’t be getting any younger, and the 31-year-old’s trade value will go down as his age goes up. Milwaukee could certainly try to make a push in future seasons with Giannis, but would that just be wasting his prime? Will he be willing to do that? It’s hard to think that a hungry team won’t offer the right price point for the face of a franchise. But the Bucks likely won’t stumble on a talent like Antetokounmpo for a while, so would those picks be worth it? It’ll be a case of weighing the chance at bouncing back before it’s too late, while wanting to do right by the franchise and its biggest star.
