Aaron Gordon is the perfect piece for David Adelman's new system.
The Denver Nuggets made a number of moves this offseason that while quiet, have contributed to a well-rounded bench that's given head coach David Adelman with a lot of pieces to work with when it comes to his rotations.
Adelman himself even made the declaration that he'll be using as much of his bench as possible, even going so far as to possibly have an 11-man rotation to get as many of his players involved as possible.
So far that's been the formula the Nuggets have employed and after the Nuggets' narrow victory over the New Orleans Pelicans, forward Aaron Gordon praised the new system and the role that he's had within it.

"I like the flow we have now, in and out, short stints on the bench opposed to long stints on the floor or long stints on the bench. The second unit is nice; it can be an extension of DA [head coach David Adelman] so I can be a floor general out there and a defensive general out there and kind of talk through what we are trying to get to," Gordon said (via Nuggets).
Keeping everyone active is a system that works best for Gordon in particular after a 2025-26 season where Gordon was often held back by injuries. By not letting get too cold with a long stint on the bench while simultaneously keeping him from staying on his feet for too long, Gordon is in a much better position to stay heathy.

As he said, Gordon has the ability to be a floor general or a defensive anchor for the team depending on the rotation on the floor and that speaks to one of Gordon's greatest strengths: his versatility.
Utilizing Versatility
The Nuggets are able to play through Gordon in a variety of was because he can either be a principal playmaker or a pivot point on the floor, he can be a great defensive presence that makes things easier on the players around him or he can be a scoring leader in his own right.

Alonzo Adams-Imagn ImagesHis ability to matchup with anyone no matter who's on the court is one of the main reasons that Adelman's system will able to work moving forward and it will give the Nugget a whole host of options when it comes to game-planning for any opponents that come up.
Gordon has always been one of the biggest hearts of the Nuggets as a whole and so long as he's able to stay healthy, Adelman may have found a way to utilize him to the best of his abilities in a completely new way and in the process, make the Nuggets a deeper team than they've been in a long time.
