Cameron Johnson starred for the Denver Nuggets in a franchise record-tying shooting performance in win over the Utah Jazz

The Denver Nuggets were able to capture their 20th win of the season, beating the Orlando Magic, and headed into the weekend looking to build upon that and extend their winning streak. However, the Houston Rockets halted their winning streak at six games, setting the Nuggets up for a bounce back opportunity against the Utah Jazz on Monday night.

Looking like a dominant team during that six-game winning streak, the Nuggets looked just as good, if not better, on Monday against the Jazz, defeating them 135-112. Denver jumped out to a 19-0 lead, and their strong outside shooting was a main proponent in them notching their 21st win on the season.

Cameron Johnson Touches On Historic Shooting Night

By converting 24 three-pointers, the Nuggets tied the franchise's all-time record for most threes in a game. On Monday, it was mainly Cam Johnson, Jamal Murray, and Tim Hardaway Jr. adding to that total, as all three contributed six made threes. However, Johnson was perfect on all six of his attempts and spoke to the team's success.

"It's the ball movement, it's the ball movement playing for each other, and generating great looks," Johnson said.

The Nuggets had 37 assists on 46 made shots, with Nikola Jokic leading the way with 13 in his triple-double performance. Denver also got some playmaking out of Jalen Pickett yet again, who has been solid with an increased role as of late.

"It's great, we got a lot of veterans, man, guys who know how to play basketball and kind of just play off each other, feed off each other, and everybody eats," he added, speaking of the team's historical offense this season.

Over their last 12 games, the Nuggets have scored at least 125 points in nine of them, despite key players like Christian Braun and Aaron Gordon still being sidelined. Therefore once they make their return to the lineup, this Denver team could be real scary contenders.

Looking Ahead

After four straight home games, the Nuggets will now head on the road to face the Dallas Mavericks, looking to defend their impressive streak.

"Gotta keep it going, gotta keep it going, just not be satisfied," Johnson said of the team's 11-straight road wins.

With the Mavericks coming off a loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday, they'll be looking to avenge themselves, but the momentum is clearly in Denver's favor. Tip-off in Dallas is set for 8:00 p.m. EST.
