Braun has full confidence in the Nuggets after their 8-game win streak.

The Denver Nuggets are rolling at the right time, and Christian Braun thinks the group is starting to figure it out.

After Denver knocked off the San Antonio Spurs 136-134 in overtime on Saturday, Braun spoke about what has clicked for the Nuggets during an eight-game winning streak that has pushed them to 50-28 on the season and solidified their hold on the fourth seed in the Western Conference.

"We're playing well in stretches, especially defensively," Braun said. "We showed some flashes of really good defense in the second half and threw different things at them. We've taken some strides, but we're not satisfied. We've got to keep the same approach and continue winning. It's a fun stretch and a good time to be coming together."

Defense Fueling the Streak

Braun's comments about defense showed up in a big way against San Antonio. The Spurs came in riding an 11-game winning streak of their own and sit at 59-19, one of the best records in the entire league.

But Denver clamped down when it counted, holding the Spurs to 33 percent shooting over the final 14 minutes of the game, including overtime.

That kind of effort against a team with Victor Wembanyama, De'Aaron Fox, and Stephon Castle tells you something about where this Denver defense is right now.

The Nuggets have leaned on that defensive identity more and more as the streak has gone on, and it has taken the pressure off the offense to be perfect every single night.

They are still scoring at a high rate with the top-ranked offense in the NBA at 121.4 points per game, but the balance between both ends of the floor is what has this team looking dangerous heading into the final stretch.

Jokic and Braun Leading the Way

Saturday's game was another showcase for Nikola Jokic, who went off for 40 points, 13 assists, and eight rebounds.

He now sits at 27.7 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 10.8 assists on the season, which is good enough for his second straight year averaging a triple-double.

He had 16 of his points in the final 14 minutes of the contest and completely took over when it mattered most.

Christian Braun added 21 points of his own and has been one of the steadier contributors during the streak.

Over the last eight games, the fourth-year wing has averaged 16.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists while shooting 40.0 percent from three.

After missing a chunk of the season with an ankle injury, he looks like the version of himself that Denver needs going forward.

Jamal Murray chipped in 15 points and 10 assists, and Aaron Gordon hit the game-tying shot with 6.2 seconds left in regulation before forcing Wembanyama into a miss on the final shot of the fourth quarter.

That kind of collective effort has been the theme of this entire run.

What Comes Next

The Nuggets are not just winning games right now, they are winning them against good teams and doing it in ways that feel sustainable.

Health has been the biggest question mark for Denver all season, and now that most of the roster is back and available, the results are speaking for themselves.

Denver hosts Portland on Monday.
