Most teams around the NBA would struggle tremendously with one of their player players being sidelined, especially someone at the level of Nikola Jokic. Add on other starters being sidelined as well, you'd think the Denver Nuggets would have no chance to compete with their best players on the court, but that hasn't been the case.

Through 14 games, the Nuggets hold a 9-5 record this season without their three-time MVP, having marquee wins over the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, and Toronto Raptors. As mentioned, it hasn't just been Jokic sidelined, as several other key players have missed time too, with head coach David Adelman pointing to one reason.

David Adelman Highlights Scheduling As Issue

Problems with the scheduling in the NBA have been brought up constantly throughout the season, from the Golden State Warriors having countless back-to-backs to begin the season to the long road travel teams have had to deal with.

After the Nuggets' win over the Milwaukee Bucks, head coach David Adelman spoke about how the scheduling situation has affected the availability of certain players on their team.

"I'm just gonna say this, this is not me complaining, but we go back-to-back in Milwaukee, play an 8:30 game central time, and now we're playing an afternoon game Sunday. So people have to understand...it's the time," Adelman said, highlighting how the travel weighs into whether or not they'll return players to the lineup.

Luckily, due to the weather, the Nuggets will now get to return to Denver and face the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday, starting a three-game homestand. Regardless, the plans that the Nuggets had in place have been thrown off, meaning there are still no guarantees on who will play.

"All those factors matter if you play a guy or not, and we have to do what's smart. And sometimes when you do what's smart, things still don't turn out the way you want them to," he added.

At the end, Adelman said if those players who have been battling injuries aren't good to go, he's confident in the group that took down the Bucks to roll into the next contest. As we've seen multiple times this season with the Nuggets, it sometimes doesn't matter who is on the floor for them to secure a win.

As for Tuesday's contest against the Pistons, tip-off is set for 9:00 p.m. EST, as the Nuggets could be home underdogs against the top team in the Eastern Conference.
