Nikola Jokic has defined what basketball dominance is in the modern era and in the Denver Nuggets' 104-91 win over the New Orleans Pelicans, Jokic reached yet another career milestone that puts into hard figures just how incredible his career has been.

Jokic turned in 21 points, second on the Nuggets behind guard Jamal Murray's 23 points, while adding 13 rebounds and 10 assists for a triple-double.

That kind of feat is nothing new for Jokic, who's unique combination of passing, court vision and size have made him the NBA's premier playmaking center, but Wednesday's triple-double was something special.

Milestone for Jokic

It was the 200th triple-double of Jokic's career, putting him just nine away from tying the all-time record of 209 set by retired guard Russel Westbrook, and the speed at which Jokic has racked up those numbers speaks to how quickly he's become one of the best players in the NBA, if not the best.

For Jokic's head coach, David Adelman, watching his superstar rocket his way into history has been a treat and it has Adelman reflecting on the history that's being made in front of him.

"I have a son and daughter at home, trying to explain to them what they're watching is pretty exceptional," Adelman said of Jokic. "My father [Rick Adelman] got to play against Oscar [Robertson]. Some of these players that have come through these years in the NBA, that's once in a lifetime kind of stuff," Adelman said (via Nuggets).

The season is just barely out of it out of it's first week and with dozens of games left to go, Jokic will all-but-certainly reach Westbrook's record, if not surpass it. But the best thing about Jokic's triple-double against the Pelicans is that it contributed to a win to improve the team to a 2-2 record after a mixed start to the season.

Dominance and Victory

Jokic undeniably makes the Nuggets better when he's on the floor and that fact won't be changing anytime soon. The triple-doubles are a neat way of attaching a numerical measure to the way that Jokic controls the floor when he's on it, but the most important number to the Serbian center and his team are wins, rather than certain stats.

Even if those wins have been harder to come by at the start of the season than the team may have expected and even if their performance against the Pelicans still left something to be desired on the offensive end, the Nuggets do continues to prove that the talent pool they have, headlined by Jokic, is still one of the best of the league.

Time will tell if the Nuggets will be able to put it fully together to remain a top contender in the Western Conference, but one thing is certain, Jokic will continue to put together dominant and historic performances every step of the way.
