The Denver Nuggets needed to get back on track after dropping a tough game to the Sacramento Kings, and they did just that with a 125-115 road victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night.

The win improved Denver to 13-4 on the season and extended their road winning streak to six games heading into a three-day break.

Adelman Highlights Murray's Growth

Head coach David Adelman has been impressed with how his star point guard has elevated his game this season, especially when it comes to taking care of the basketball while creating opportunities for teammates.

After the win over Memphis, Adelman spoke about what Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic have been doing together on the court.

"They've been special for so long, both guys, and Jamal's playing at such a high level right now," Adelman said. "Again tonight, eight assists, only one turnover. The other night, nine assists, one turnover. Game before, 10. It's becoming a thing, and him playmaking for his teammates is fun to watch."

Murray's playmaking was on full display against Memphis, and the guard finished with 29 points and eight assists while shooting an efficient 6-for-9 from beyond the arc.

When the Grizzlies tried to send extra bodies his way in the fourth quarter, Murray responded by dishing consecutive assists that extended Denver's lead and forced a Memphis timeout.

One of those passes was a slick behind-the-back feed to Zeke Nnaji, who knocked down a corner three to cap off a productive night off the bench.

Nuggets' Big Three Steps Up

With Aaron Gordon and Christian Braun both sidelined due to injuries, the Nuggets needed others to step up against the shorthanded Grizzlies, and they got exactly that from Peyton Watson.

The 23-year-old wing has been filling in admirably and continued his recent hot streak with 27 points on 11-for-22 shooting and five made threes.

Watson has now scored 20 or more points in back-to-back games after dropping a career-high 32 points against the Pelicans last week, and he is averaging 8.7 points and 4.8 rebounds per game on the season while shooting 39.4 percent from three.

Jokic did what Jokic does best, recording his tenth triple-double of the year with 17 points, 10 rebounds and a game-high 16 assists.

The three-time MVP is putting together another dominant campaign and is averaging 29.6 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 11.1 assists per game while shooting an absurd 62.6 percent from the field.

He also earned back-to-back Western Conference Player of the Week honors earlier this month, the 19th such award of his career.

Looking Ahead

The Nuggets will enjoy a brief break before hosting the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night in an NBA Cup matchup at Ball Arena. Denver currently sits at 2-1 in West Group C play and can clinch a spot in the knockout stage with a win over San Antonio.

The Spurs present a unique challenge even though Wembanyama's injury status is up in the air, and Adelman's squad will need to clean up their interior defense after allowing Memphis backup center Jock Landale to score 26 points on Monday.

Despite dealing with injuries to key rotation pieces, Denver has positioned themselves nicely near the top of the Western Conference standings.

Murray's continued growth as a playmaker and Watson's emergence as a reliable scoring option have given Adelman plenty of reasons to be optimistic about this team's potential as the season progresses.
