The Denver Nuggets just did something they'd never done before with Nikola Jokic on the roster.

Denver beat the Memphis Grizzlies 136-119 on Wednesday to extend their winning streak to 10 games, the longest run in the Jokic era. The last time the Nuggets won 10 in a row was back in 2013, before Jokic was even drafted. Head coach David Adelman admitted he didn't even know that going into the game.

"I was not aware of that, I said that before the game too," Adelman said. "We've won so much over the years that you would expect that we would get to a double-digit win streak. I think it speaks to the consistency over the years of us always bouncing back after a loss."

Peaking at the Right Time

What makes this run even more impressive is the context around it. Denver dealt with injuries to multiple key players earlier this season, including Jokic himself missing time. The fact that they've been able to piece together the best winning streak of the Jokic era this late in the season says a lot about the depth and resilience of this roster.

Jokic has been the engine driving all of it. He's averaged 25.2 points, 14.5 rebounds, and 12.7 assists across the 10 games, and those numbers have no precedent in NBA history.

According to Opta Stats, across more than 1.4 million recorded 10-game spans in league history, no player has ever totaled more combined points, rebounds, and assists than Jokic has during this run. He's doing it in 31 minutes a night too, with Denver managing his workload ahead of the playoffs.

On the season, Jokic is averaging 27.8 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 10.9 assists, and he's currently leading the league in both rebounds and assists simultaneously. No player in NBA history has ever finished a season leading both categories.

Heading Into Postseason Strong

Jokic is in the thick of the MVP race alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Victor Wembanyama, and performances like Wednesday's aren't doing anything to hurt his case.

The streak has Denver sitting at 52-28, firmly holding the third seed in the Western Conference with two games left. They've got a tough finish ahead, with games against the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs, but this group has earned the right to feel good about where they are heading into the postseason.

Jokic recorded his 34th triple-double of the season in the win, putting up 14 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists in just 31 minutes. He now has 198 career triple-doubles, two shy of joining Russell Westbrook in the 200 club, with two games left to get there.

The Nuggets aren't just peaking on paper either. They've had to grind out close wins, come back from double-digit deficits, and find ways to win when things weren't clean. If Denver carries this momentum into the first round, they're going to be a genuinely scary out for whoever draws them.
