The Nuggets won game one, 116-105, thanks to big runs in the second and third quarters. After trailing by 10 after the first quarter, Denver outscored Minnesota by ten in the second to bring the game to a tie heading into the locker rooms. They would go on to outscore Minnesota by 11 in the third quarter before closing out the game in the fourth.
Denver leads the series 1-0. Game two will begin at 10:30 PM ET and will take place at Ball Arena in Denver.
Denver Nuggets Injury Report
Peyton Watson remains OUT with a right hamstring strain. He suffered the injury on April 1 against the Utah Jazz. On April 3, he was ruled out on a week-to-week basis, and there have been no further updates on his potential return. He played in 54 games in the regular season, averaging 14.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists.
Spencer Jones is now completely off the injury report. Game one was his first action since March 29. He had been sidelined with a right hamstring strain. He finished with five points in nine minutes off the bench in game one.
Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray will look to lead the way once again for Denver in Game two.
In game one, Murray finished with a game-high 30 points despite a rough 7-22 shooting night. He went 16-16 from the free throw line. Jokic finished with 25 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists for his first triple double of the postseason.
Aaron Gordon had 17 points, Cameron Johnson had 12 points, and Christian Braun had 12 points to put all five starters in double figures for Denver.
Off the bench, Bruce Brown scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Minnesota Timberwolves Injury Report
Anthony Edwards is QUESTIONABLE with right knee injury maintenance. He was questionable going into game one, but still played 38 minutes. He scored 22 points on 7-19 shooting and 2-9 from three. He also had nine rebounds and seven assists, but it was noted that he didn't quite look like himself.
Rudy Gobert secured a double double in game one, scoring 17 points and grabbing ten rebounds. Julius Randle and Jaden McDaniels had 16 points each, but combined to shoot 0-7 from three. Donte DiVincenzo had 12 points, hitting four threes.
Ayo Dosunmu had 14 points on 5-10 shooting off the bench.
