The Denver Nuggets enter the final leg of what has been the toughest three-game stretch of their season so far, where they've gone 0-2 against the Oklahoma City Thunder and Detroit Pistons. However, they have to turn around for the second night of their back-to-back to face the red-hot New York Knicks.
The Knicks are also entering the second night of a back-to-back, having defeated the Washington Wizards in blowout fashion on Tuesday. Winners of their last seven games, they look to continue their climb up the Eastern Conference in hot pursuit of the Pistons, and the Nuggets will have to do what they can with key players sidelined.
Injuries continue to be the focal point of this Nuggets season, as three of their opening night starters are listed on the injury report for Wednesday.
Both Aaron Gordon (hamstring) and Cameron Johnson (knee) are listed as OUT. Gordon made a brief return to play, but will now miss his sixth-straight contest for the Nuggets. What started as a career season for the Nuggets forward has become a disaster as the team hopes to have him healthy come postseason.
As for Johnson, he was just starting to adjust to his role with the Nuggets before suffering an injury; he last appeared in the team's 131-130 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on December 23rd.
Additionally, Christian Braun is listed as PROBABLE on the injury report with a left ankle sprain, as he returned to the lineup on Tuesday night for 25 minutes of action.
The other two names on the injury report include Tamar Bates (foot) and Curtis Jones (two-way), both of whom are OUT. The Nuggets don't have Spencer Jones listed, meaning he could be put on a standard contract in the near future.
The Knicks have five players listed as QUESTIONABLE, with those being Pacome Dadiet (G-League), Mohamed Diawara (ankle), Josh Hart (ankle), Trey Jemison III (two-way), and Kevin McCullar Jr. (two-way).
Given this structure, it's likely that the statuses of Dadiet, Jemison, and McCullar will be determined on whether or not Diawara and Hart are able to suit up.
The only other name listed is Miles McBride, as he's been ruled OUT due to a left ankle injury.
Two of the best teams in the league, with a pair of All-Stars at the guard and center positions leading the way, should provide fans with entertaining basketball on Wednesday night.
Tip-off at Madison Square Garden is set for 7:00 p.m. EST.
