Denver's star duo lights up Charlotte as the Nuggets continue their road dominance.
The Denver Nuggets showed once again why they are one of the most dangerous road teams in the NBA, defeating the Charlotte Hornets 115-106 on Sunday night at Spectrum Center.
The win pushed Denver's road winning streak to an impressive 10 consecutive games and moved the team to 17-6 on the season, keeping them firmly in second place in the Western Conference.
Murray Gets Hot Early
Jamal Murray came out of the gates on fire, pouring in 34 points on 14-of-25 shooting to lead all scorers.
The 28-year-old point guard was especially dangerous in the first quarter, erupting for 23 points before halftime, though the Nuggets still trailed 58-57 heading into the break.
Murray has been playing at an elite level all season and is averaging 24.6 points, 6.9 assists, and 4.6 rebounds per game while shooting 50.3 percent from the field and 46.1 percent from three-point range.
Head coach David Adelman has been impressed with Murray's consistency and decision-making this year.
"He just has that feeling," Adelman said recently of Murray's ability to take over games. "There are nights when he can be really special."
Jokic Takes Over in the Second Half
While Murray got Denver going early, it was three-time MVP Nikola Jokic who took control after halftime.
The 30-year-old center finished with 28 points, 11 assists, and nine rebounds on an efficient 11-of-16 shooting from the field, using his size and court vision to create opportunities for himself and his teammates.
Jokic's second-half dominance flipped the game in Denver's favor, and the Nuggets built a 13-point lead in the fourth quarter.
The Hornets made a late push, with Brandon Miller knocking down a three-pointer plus the foul to cut the deficit to seven, but Charlotte could not sustain the momentum.
"What we're doing right now on the road is really impressive," Adelman said. "It speaks to a veteran team, a professional team."
Nuggets Continue Road Dominance
Denver's 10-game road winning streak is a franchise record, and the Nuggets have been remarkably consistent away from Ball Arena this season despite dealing with injuries to key players like Aaron Gordon and Christian Braun.
The win over Charlotte was their third straight victory overall, following a thrilling 23-point comeback win over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday.
Tim Hardaway Jr. provided a spark off the bench with 14 points for the Nuggets, who continue to lead the NBA in scoring at over 125 points per game.
The Nuggets head to Sacramento on Thursday to continue their road trip, while Charlotte will look to bounce back at home as they try to build on what has been their best stretch of the season.
