The Nuggets could use a certain Eastern Conference contender to address one big issue with their roster.
Pursuing a sign-and-trade deal with Peyton Watson is looking more and more like a viable option for the Denver Nuggets to pursue this offseason as their own chances at signing the standout wing look to be increasingly slim, and a new team reportedly interested in Watson could be the Nuggets' solution to one major roster need.
While the Nuggets themselves may prefer to be able to sign Watson themselves, that simply doesn't seem viable when looking at the gap contract that Watson is likely to warrant and the Nuggets' reported offers to him, along with Denver's status within the second apron already.
The financial limitations that the Nuggets are being faced with paired with the flaws in their own roster are what make the idea of a sign-and-trade much more interesting and it's something that's already been floated as a way for the Nuggets to leverage Watson's restricted free agency status while still getting some value for him.

While there has been no shortage of suitors for Watson that Denver could work with, a recent report from ESPN's Ramona Shellburne presents one of the most intriguing trade partners yet.
Per Shellburne, the Cleveland Cavaliers are one of the teams interested in Watson and with the guard depth that they have, the Nuggets could easily come away with an impactful player that could address the Nuggets' depth problem.

Adding Guards
One potential trade that they could pursue with the Cavaliers is a sign-and-trade for Watson in exchange for Sam Merrill and Cleveland's 2031 first-round pick. Previous reports have indicated that the Nuggets would want at least one impact player and one first-round pick as a baseline for any return for Watson and this deal would fall in line with that.

This package may be a big ask from the Nuggets, but considering the Cavaliers' fringe position as contenders in the Eastern Conference, they may be just desperate enough to bite at this kind of offer in order to bulk out their own roster to compete with the team's around them and in the process could bulk out Denver's roster as well.
