The Denver Nuggets have taken Trevon Brazile with their second round pick.
On night two of the draft, the Nuggets selected forward Trevon Brazile out of Arkansas with the 35th overall pick.
Brazile measured 6'10'' with a 7'3.75'' wingspan and 225 pounds at the combine.
He averaged 13 points, 7.3 reounds, 1.6 assists, 1.6 blocks, and 1.5 steals per game in his senior season.
He was named to the SEC All-Tournament Team after averaging 14.7 points and 10 rebounds during the tournament. He was the first Arkansas player with 40+ three-pointers (45), 40+ blocks (58) and 40+ steals (53) in a season.
Strengths
Brazile is a fantastic athlete who plays above the rim. He had a 33" standing and a 41" max vertical leap at the combine. He finished 75% of his attempts around the rim in his senior year. He gets out in transition and works as a cutter.
He shot only 34.1% from three in his final college season, but the potential is there as shooter. His form looks good and he isn't afraid to let it go when open.
He's a versatile player on defense, as evidenced by his steal and block numbers. He can disrupt action and start things the other way as a defensive playmaker.
Weaknesses
He doesn't create much for himself or others. He's not a guy who is going to put the ball on the floor and will rely on guys like Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic to get him looks and opportunities.
He'll need to add some strength to deal with the physicality of NBA frontcourt anchors.
How He Fits In Denver
He's not Aaron Gordon, but the vision is obvious. He does things similar to a young Aaron Gordon, who relied a lot on raw athleticism before developing into a more complete player.
His ability to play above the rim and create looks for himself as a cutter is going to be perfect next to Jokic, the best passing big man in the league. If his shot is enough of a threat to keep defenses honest, that's only going to open his game up more.
His defensive versatility will also be helpful in Denver, not only in saving points, but also creating transition opportunities.
As Gordon has slowed over the years, thanks to injuries and age, Brazile looks like a solid next-generation bet.
