As the 2025-26 season dragged on and the Denver Nuggets suffered injury after injury to some of their most crucial players, health became a luxury and the players on the roster who stayed healthy and answered the call to fill the void that injuries created became vital to the success of the season. 

For some, like Peyton Watson, the gaps left by injuries created an opportunity to rise and impress and for other players, simply being able to be present on the court demonstrated how much value they had within the team and how indispensable they were to Denver's overall success. 

Bruce Brown was firmly in that second camp. The eight-season veteran wing accomplished the rare feat of appearing in all 82 games of last season, starting four of those games, and his presence as an ever-reliable role player ensured that the Nuggets could compete late in games and late in the season. 

In those 82 games, Brown averaged 7.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 24.4 minutes per game while adding crucial perimeter defense on the floor and as the season went on, Brown became an easy player for head coach David Adelman to turn to as he was constantly forced to experiment with new rotations with whoever he had available to him.

With how important Brown became to the overall structure and chemistry of the team, retaining him for next season should have been a big priority for the Nuggets, especially after ultimately losing out on Watson in free agency, but Brown has remained a free agent with just weeks left until the season begins, and Denver's delay in re-signing him could lead to them missing out on him entirely. 

According to a recent report from Bleacher Report's Jake Fischer, Brown has been drawing some serious interest from the Los Angeles Lakers, who are in a prime position to aggressively pursue Brown after missing out on Jonathan Kuminga, their top free agent target, to the Minnesota Timberwolves. 

Not only would losing out on Brown be bad for the Nuggets, but losing him to one of their conference rivals would add insult to injury and would be further reflective of how generally unproductive the Nuggets' offseason has been. 

Brown also fits a major need within the Denver lineup, that being a need for guards, so letting him walk wouldn't just be bad for sentimental reasons after last season, it would be a genuine detriment to the construction of the team. 

Denver has needed to act fast on free agents this entire offseason, but hasn't, and now the clock is ticking on yet another would-be crucial piece of the team as the allure of Los Angeles is likely to come calling after Brown.
