The Denver Nuggets occupy the third-seed in the Western Conference entering Sunday's NBA slate, and it's a surprise to see them as high as they are given the circumstances. With constant injuries throughout the season, the Nuggets closed out their brutal seven-game road trip with back-to-back wins before returning to Denver and suffering a loss to the Atlanta Hawks.
Now, they are set to play host to the Milwaukee Bucks, who will be looking to put an end to their West Coast road trip with a win to end things off at 3-1. The Bucks will enter this contest in good shape, while injuries continue to be the tale of the story for the Nuggets.
The injury report for the Nuggets is a lengthy one, with five players listed as OUT. Those include Tamar Batas (foot), Cameron Johnson (knee), Nikola Jokic (knee), Curtis Jones (two-way), and Jonas Valanciunas (calf).
Unfortunately, it doesn't stop there, with Spencer Jones (ankle) and Jamal Murray (ankle) both listed as QUESTIONABLE, with Aaron Gordon (hamstring) and Christian Braun (ankle) rounding things out listed as PROBABLE.
Johnson and Jokic were the two most recent starters to suffer injuries, meaning their time to return isn't close just yet.
As for Gordon and Braun, Gordon has been coming off the bench for the Nuggets since his return, playing in three of the last four games for Denver. On the other hand, Braun has been starting since he returned, playing in the same three games Gordon has since returning. However, Gordon has looked far better than Braun so far through three contests.
Murray also hasn't played in two of the last three gams for Denver, but has been stellar when on the court. In the four games he's played without Jokic, he's averaging 26 points, 11.5 assists, and 6.8 rebounds.
Milwaukee's injury report remains pretty standard, with Alex Antetokounmpo (two-way), Pete Nance (two-way), and Taurean Prince (neck) all ruled OUT, with Kevin Porter Jr. (hip) listed as PROBABLE.
Since returning from injury on November 29th, Porter Jr. has yet to miss a contest and has solidified himself as the second-best player on the team behind Giannis Antetokounmpo, averaging 8.6 assists over his last seven contests.
Unfortunately, fans won't get the matchup between two of the top international players the NBA has ever seen, but it should be a competitive contest nonetheless. With the Nuggets coming off a rough loss and the Bucks coming off a clutch win, both sides will come out with something to prove.
Tip-off at Ball Arena is set for 8:00 p.m. EST.
