After the Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets completed a trade that sent Buddy Heild and Ryan Nembhard to Charlotte in exchange for sending Dorian Finney-Smith to Atlanta, the Denver Nuggets could be the ones to actually pick up a productive player themselves. 

Even though Nebhard was traded to the Hornets, it's already being speculated that Nembhard will be waived by the Hornets to free up roster space, in which case the promising 23-year-old could be a highly regard target for several teams to pick up before the season begins. 

Per a report form Marc Stein, the Nuggets are expected to be one of those suitors.

Nembhard played his rookie season season with the Dallas Mavericks, where he averaged 6.6 points, 2.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists in 19.5 minutes per game while shooting 41.5% from the field and 35.6% from three point range.

Despite a relatively successful rookie season where he played 60 games at the NBA level despite being on a two-way contract, the Mavericks traded him to the Hawks in July, before he was traded to the Hornets. 

The Nuggets have already had a great firsthand look at what Nembhard is capable of considering that, as Stein described, Nembhard had a 28 points, 10 assist double-double with zero turnovers against the Nuggets in December.

He's also made history with the Mavericks after a rookie franchise record 28 assist performance against the Chicago Bulls near the end of the season, the undrafted point guard clearly has the capability for greatness.

With that kind of playmaking prowess in mind, Nembhard would be an excellent pickup for the Nuggets should he actually be waived and should the Nuggets actually be the team to sign him. 

The biggest concern with the Nuggets' roster construction at this point is their backcourt depth, especially when it comes to point guards. 

Looking at the depth chart, the Nuggets' best two options behind guard Jamal Murray to play the one are guards Tyus Jones and K.J. Simpson, which aren't names that exactly inspire confidence in their depth. 

The dependability of Jones and Simpson aside, not having any reliable options at the end of the bench is a major weak point for the Nuggets, especially considering how many injuries the Nuggets had to deal with last season. 

Nembhard would be an excellent way for the Nuggets to address that depth issue and with the potential that he exhibited last season, he could be an excellent young player to hold onto and see if he develops into something more.
