Nikola Jokic is without question one of the best players in the NBA today and before the rise of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the beginning of the pair's battle for MVPs year after year, it looked like Jokic was the undisputed best player in the league. 

The question now at this stage in the Denver Nuggets star's career with so many accomplishments already under his belt is not where he ranks among the players active today, but where he ranks best players of all time at his position of center.

Jokic already has three MVPs, which is tied with Moses Malone for the fourth-most in NBA history, trailing only Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell and Kareem Abdul-Jabar and he's second-most all-time in triple-doubles with 198, trailing only Russell Westbrook with 209. 

Among centers, he's sixth all-time in points per game, 10th all-time in rebounds per game and first all-time in assists per game by a wide margin with a career average of 7.5 per game while also being fourth all-time in steals per game.

What has made Jokic so great is the diversity of his skillset and the variety of weapons he has at his disposal. He has all the typical traits of a center, those being his size and presence in the paint that's let him be an imposing threat on the inside as well as a defensive threat, but his talent doesn't end there.

What has truly set Jokic apart has been his playmaking. He's been a "point center" in a way that no one else in NBA history truly has, allowing the Denver Nuggets to run the offense through him and utilize his elite court vision through both kick-out passes and feeds to his teammates as they cut through the paint. 

Pairing that playmaking ability with his own proficiency shooting from long range with a 36.2% three point percentage has meant that he possesses a skillset that no other center truly ever has. 

All of that talent has translated into several accolades: three MVPS, seven All-Star selections and six First team selections. 

When looking at his greatness from a historical perspective, he certainly has some tough competition. Some of the best players in NBA history have been centers, like Abdul-Jabar, Russell and Chamberlain.

But, should Jokic keep up the pace he's already established and keep climbing up the record books, there will likely be an argument not only that he's one one of the greatest centers of all time, but one of the greatest players of all time.

He has several factors working against him considering he still has years left in his career to continue to rack up lifetime statistics and he has just one championship to his name, so for now he can't be definitively put above players like the top three of Abdul-Jabar, Chamberlain and Russell at this point.

But, Jokic still has plenty of time to change that.
