Former IU, Pacers Assistant Coach Joining NBC Sports’ College Basketball Studio Show cover image

Indiana basketball legend Calbert Cheaney moves from the bench to NBC/Peacock's college hoops studio. He brings Pacers and Hoosiers coaching insights to the studio throughout the basketball season.

Before streaming service Peacock, which is run by NBC, had rights to the NBA, they were broadcasting college basketball games.

The network announced its broadcasting teams for the upcoming college basketball season and there are several announcers with ties to the state of Indiana.

Calbert Cheaney has joined the network as a studio analyst. He was an assistant coach on Rick Carlisle's Pacers staff, but left after the 2022-23 season to join Mike Woodson's coaching staff at his alma mater — Indiana University.

When IU moved on from Woodson after this past season, they completely overhauled the program. There are no returning coaches or staff members.

Ahmed Fareed and Jac Collinsworth will serve as studio hosts — with analysts Cheaney, Jordan Cornette, Matt McCall, and former Pacer Evan Turner.

This is a great way for Cheaney to stay connected with the game, talk hoops, and have some fun during the college basketball season.

Meanwhile, three-time WNBA All-Star Aliyah Boston returns for her third season as a studio analyst for the network. She's already committed to playing in the second season of Unrivaled basketball in early 2026.

Scott Agness is the longest-tenured Pacers beat reporter. He enters his 14th season covering the team and he's been around The Fieldhouse since 2003. He runs Fieldhouse Files — covering the Pacers, Boom, and Fever — and hosts "The Fieldhouse Files Podcast."
