Indiana Pacers' Kobe Brown Receives Contract Update

The Indiana Pacers are signing forward Kobe Brown to a two-way contract for the 2026-27 season.

Brown landed with the Pacers at the 2026 trade deadline as part of the deal that sent center Ivica Zubac to Indiana. 

Brown appeared in 27 games for the Pacers and played well, averaging 9.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, and two assists per game while shooting 50.3 percent from the field and 43.3 percent from three.

The 26-year-old improved drastically from behind the arc during his time in Indiana. Brown's most efficient season with the Los Angeles Clippers was his rookie campaign, where he shot 29.2 percent from behind the arc.

If Brown has turned his three-point shot around for good, he could be a quality piece off the bench for Indiana.

They have a deep rotation led by star guard Tyrese Haliburton. Haliburton missed the entire 2025-26 season recovering from his torn Achilles tendon that he suffered in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Haliburton will return to the floor next season and be the Pacers' leader as one of the best playmakers in the league. In the 2024-25 season, the 26-year-old guard averaged 18.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 9.2 assists, and 1.4 steals per game, shooting 47.3 percent from the field and 38.8 percent from three.

He will look to lead a deep rotation alongside co-star Pascal Siakam and quality pieces such as Andrew Nembhard, Aaron Nesmith, Zubac, Kelly Oubre Jr., and more.

Indiana should jump back into contention with Haliburton's return, but the Eastern Conference does pose a bigger challenge than it did when he was last healthy.

Teams in the East have made major moves, including the Toronto Raptors' pending acquisition of Kawhi Leonard, the Philadelphia 76ers' trading for Jaylen Brown, and the Miami Heat's landing of Giannis Antetokounmpo.

While the Pacers haven't landed a star this offseason, they are continuing to add depth and will have one of the deepest rotations in basketball in the 2026-27 season with valuable players on the roster all the way down to two-way contracts like Brown.
