The Indiana Pacers have signed Larry Nance Jr. to a one-year contract.
The Indiana Pacers have made their second move of free agency, signing veteran big man Larry Nance Jr. to a one-year, $4 million deal.
Nance Jr. appeared in 35 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2025-26 season, averaging 3.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, and an assist per game, shooting 41.9 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three.
While the 33-year-old is no longer the Slam Dunk Contest participant he once was, he is still a solid lob threat and a solid playmaker for his position. Nance Jr. has also shown the ability to knock down triples, shooting 41.5 percent in the 2023-24 season and 44.7 percent in the 2024-25 season before a down year in the 2025-26 season.
Although Nance Jr. won't be a major piece for the Pacers, he is solid depth at power forward. He has also shown the ability to be a small-ball center in certain lineups.
His ability to catch lobs, be a connective playmaker, and play quality defense as a versatile big man makes him a great fit for Indiana.
The Pacers haven't been super active this offseason, but have now signed Nance Jr. and Kelly Oubre Jr. to deals in free agency.
Oubre will take on a bigger role for Indiana as a starting small forward or as the sixth man, depending on whether Rick Carlisle wants to start Aaron Nesmith over him.
Oubre is coming off a solid year for the Philadelphia 76ers as he averaged 14.1 points, five rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.4 steals per game, shooting 46.7 percent from the floor and 36 percent from behind the arc.
The Pacers will welcome Nance Jr. and Oubre to the roster as they look to contend for an NBA title in the 2026-27 season.
Indiana took a gap year last season, knowing superstar guard Tyrese Haliburton would miss the entire season after going down with a torn Achilles tendon in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
However, with Haliburton set to return, the Pacers should be right back in the mix in what is set to be a competitive Eastern Conference in the 2026-27 season.
