Indiana Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle has been predicted to bring home some hardware this coming season.

There are few head coaches around the NBA better than Indiana Pacers lead man Rick Carlisle. Since returning to the team following a very successful tenure with the Dallas Mavericks, Carlisle has helped put the Pacers back on the map.

Not only has he been able to lead Indiana back to playoff contention, he has the team looking like a championship contender.

Just two years ago, Carlisle and the Pacers made a magical run to the NBA Finals. Unfortunately, after taking the Oklahoma City Thunder to Game 7 of the Finals, tragedy struck. Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton went down with a torn Achilles in the winner-take-all contest.

Last season, Indiana only mustered up a 19-63 record. That left a sour taste in the mouths of both the team and fan base.

With Haliburton set to make his return to the court on opening night to begin the 2026-27 season, the Pacers are expected to be back in the mix as a contender in the Eastern Conference.

As for Carlisle, the elite head coach has landed a strong prediction to bring home some hardware at the conclusion of the upcoming campaign.

A panel of NBA insider on ESPN has predicted that Carlisle will end up winning the Coach of the Year award this season. He finished just one vote ahead of San Antonio Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson.

Carlisle has never received the national respect that he deserves in Indiana. The Pacers typically fly under the national news radar. Despite that fact, he has put together a career that most NBA coaches can only dream of having.

Back in the 2001-02 season, Carlisle began his head coaching career with the Detroit Pistons. He has coached every year since.

Across tenures with the Pistons, Pacers, Mavericks, and Indiana again, the 66-year-old head coach has compiled an impressive 1,012-923 record. He also led Dallas to an NBA championship back in the 2010-11 season.

Heading into the 2026-27 season with Indiana, the expectations are high. The Pacers are expected to pick up where they left off two years ago. Carlisle's leadership will be integral for the team's chances of making another NBA Finals run.

Only time will tell what the upcoming season has in store for Indiana. But, it's clear that the ESPN insiders on the panel are expecting another successful year for the Pacers.
