Toppin's back went out before shootaround in Miami, adding him to an injury list with Tyrese Haliburton, T.J. McConnell, Ivica Zubac, Ben Sheppard, and Johnny Furphy.

Obi Toppin's back went out before shootaround Friday morning in Miami, and the Indiana Pacers scratched the forward that afternoon, acting coach Lloyd Pierce said after a 145-125 NBA Cup loss to the Heat.

Toppin became the sixth Pacer unavailable. The No. 8 pick in the 2020 draft, he came to Indiana from the New York Knicks in a 2023 trade. Indiana dressed 11 players for its fourth game in six days.

The other five were Tyrese Haliburton (hamstring), T.J. McConnell (hamstring), Ivica Zubac (left ankle), Ben Sheppard (knee), and Johnny Furphy (knee).

Haliburton has a mild left hamstring strain and is week-to-week, with the team's next update due in about two weeks. He had played four games this season after missing all of 2025-26.
