The two spoke about their relationship in a new video that drops on Thursday (9/24).
"You know, I appreciate our friendship very much," Haliburton said. "What people don't know, which some of we never really talked about, Game 7 when I got hurt, you and your son came to the locker room at halftime, that will forever be special to me. I had a group hug in that moment and you let me cry in your arms which I'll never forget. So I'm thankful for you forever."
"I love the blending of eras," Miller said. "You play for the same thing that I always thought about. The fans, the city, the state, and you brought us all together back again and all you guys did and how you represent the Pacers blue and gold. It's special and for you guys to be so young and right in the middle of it. I'm just glad to be along for the ride."
Miller is one of the greatest players in NBA history. He spent his entire career with the Pacers and made five All-Star teams and three All-NBA teams.
In the regular season, Miller averaged 18.2 points per game for Indiana. He made 2,560 3-pointers, good for seventh all-time.
In the playoffs, Miller put up 20.6 points per game. He led the Pacers to the 2000 NBA Finals, a series the Los Angeles Lakers won in six games.
Miller was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012 and the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team in 2021. His No. 31 jersey was retired by the Pacers in March 2006.
Miller is now a TV analyst for NBC Sports. He officially signed with NBC Sports to serve as a top color commentator starting for the 2025–26 NBA season, moving over after a long 20-year run with TNT.
Miller called the Pacers' 2025 NBA Finals run on TNT. Indiana defeated the Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks to advance to the 2025 NBA Finals.
The Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Pacers in the NBA Finals in seven games. Haliburton, of course, tore his Achilles tendon in Game 7.
Haliburton had an outstanding 2024-25 campaign for the Pacers. He averaged 18.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 9.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.7 blocks per game and made the All-NBA Third Team.
Haliburton is averaging 19.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 10.1 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.6 blocks per game in a Pacers uniform. He signed a five-year, $244 million extension with the Pacers in July 2023.
