Thunder Guard Isaiah Joe Named 'Great Fit' for Pacers' Bench

Should the Indiana Pacers trade for Oklahoma City Thunder guard Isaiah Joe?

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Isaiah Joe has been named a "great fit" for the Indiana Pacers bench by Dustin Dopirak of the Indianapolis Star.

Joe will make $11,323,006 next season. He could be available in trade talks after the Oklahoma City Thunder traded Aaron Wiggins to the Atlanta Hawks to lower their tax bill.

"Offensively, at least, Joe would seem to be a great fit for the Pacers' second unit," Dopirak wrote. "The former second-round pick from Arkansas isn't the defender most of his fellow Thunder wings are, but he's an outstanding shooter, making 40.6% of his 3-pointers in his career including better than 40% in each of his four seasons at Oklahoma City at high volume. Despite coming off the bench, he made at least 140 3-pointers and finished in the top 10 in the NBA in 3-pointers off the bench in each of those seasons. In a second unit with TJ McConnell and Obi Toppin, he'd get a ton of opportunity."

The Pacers will be a contender again next season with Tyrese Haliburton back in the lineup. Adding Joe would make Indiana more formidable offensively since he's one of the top shooters in the NBA.

For the Thunder this season, Joe averaged 11.1 points per game while shooting 45.5% from the field, 42.3% from beyond the arc and 89.4% from the free-throw line.

The 26-year-old Joe holds career averages of 8.2 points per game while shooting 40.6% from 3. He projects to be a great fit in the Pacers' high-octane offense.

Since the Pacers don't have a first-round pick in this year's draft, they may have to improve the roster via the trade market. It will be intriguing to see if Indiana makes any trades and if OKC makes Joe available in trade conversations around the NBA.
