The New Orleans Pelicans battle the streaking New York Knicks, facing tough odds and a former teammate.

The New Orleans Pelicans have been hoping to make a surprise run at a Play-In Tournament, but their loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers has made that a lot harder. Still, don't expect them to limp into Tuesday's game with the New York Knicks.

The Knicks sit at 47-25, are a half-game back from the No. 2-seed in the East and have won their last six. This could be the Pelicans' hardest game in a long time, all things considered.

One fun storyline will be this group of New Orleans playing against their former teammate, Jose Alvarado, who was traded to New York at the deadline. He has averaged 6.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and 4.1 assists on 16.8 minutes per game since the deal.

Here is a quick rundown of important information to know before the game tips off on Tuesday:

New Orleans Pelicans at New York Knicks Injury Updates

Pelicans:

Trey Alexander (G League two-way) - Out
Hunter Dickinson (G League two-way) - Out
Bryce McGowens (Right small toe fracture) - Out
Josh Oduro (G League two-way) - Out

It feels like, at this point, there is a slim chance that McGowens comes back from that fracture in the final 10 games of the season.

If he has indeed played his final minutes of the year, then it's been a great ride for the former second-round pick. He has worked his way from a two-way player to signing a three-year standard contract with New Orleans.

Knicks:

Miles McBride (core surgery) - Out
Landry Shamet (right knee contusion) - Out
Kevin McCullar Jr. (G League two-way) - Questionable
Trey Jemison III (G League two-way) - Questionable
Dillon Jones (G League two-way) - Questionable

McBride has been out since January, and Shamet has missed large chunks of time as well. New York has learned to win without them.
