Game Preview: New Orleans Pelicans vs. Memphis Grizzlies - 1/30/26 cover image

The New Orleans Pelicans, mostly healthy, seek to repeat a recent win against the injury-ravaged Memphis Grizzlies.

The New Orleans Pelicans are coming off a successful road trip where they went 2-1, starting with a win over the Memphis Grizzlies. Now, they return home and play host to the Grizzlies.

Finally mostly healthy again, the Pelicans are playing some of their best basketball of the year. They've switched to an all-big starting lineup and the group seems to be playing well together.

Good things happen when Saddiq Bey, Zion Williamson, Trey Murphy and Herb Jones share the floor.

Memphis is in an opposite position, ravaged by injuries and struggling. They are currently on a four-game losing streak and haven't eclipsed 100 points in a week.

New Orleans Pelicans vs. Memphis Grizzlies Injury Updates

The Pelicans will carry the new usual injury report into this game with Dejounte Murray out as he recovers from his Achilles rupture last year; he is also being shopped around as a potential trade piece. Hunter Dickinson and Trey Alexander are out on two-way obligations.

Not on the injury report, but also not expected to play in this game are Jordan Hawkins and Jordan Poole. James Borrego said after practice on Thursday that they remain ready and could be called on at any moment, but the belief is that they are sitting out as the front office tries to trade them ahead of next week's deadline.

Memphis has a much larger injury list. Santi Aldama, Brandon Clarke, Ty Jerome, Ja Morant, Zach Edey and Scotty Pippen Jr. are all out with injury.

Nothing major has changed for the Grizzlies since that game last Friday, though. They have a lot of talent out and are relying on a lot of young role players for offense and defense.

Key to Victory for New Orleans Pelicans vs. Memphis Grizzlies

Go at Jaren Jackson Jr. and guard Jock Landale.

Jackson and Landale were the two players who made the last matchup a close game. Jackson is prone to getting into foul trouble.© Petre Thomas-Imagn Images Landale can be made inefficient, but New Orleans just did a poor job of defending him last time.
