The New Orleans Pelicans will close off this mini homestand against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday night, after losing to them in overtime on Tuesday. Perhaps they can right a wrong after holding a lead for much of that game.
Trey Murphy III had one of his best nights of the season in that last game, finishing with 33 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. It was a great showing, but it ended up being overshadowed by Anthony Edwards' 44-point performance.
A win in this game would go a long way at a crucial time for this team. They head on the road for a winnable game against the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday. Going into that with some confidence would help avoid more disappointment.
Here is a quick rundown of important information to know before the game tips off on Thursday night:

The only major change for the Pelicans will be that Karlo Matkovic is finally returning after being out with a calf strain since the Oklahoma City Thunder game on November 17. No one else is coming back, but look for at least Jordan Poole and Herb Jones to return in the next couple of games as well. Yves Missi, Zion Willimason and Dejounte Murray have less clear timelines right now.
The Timberwolves remain a very healthy team and will not be missing any pieces in this game. Edwards had a scare during Tuesday's game, but finished that game out and appears to be fine.
Continue maximizing Murphy's offensive value.
One of the reasons that Murphy had such a good performance in that last game was that the offense actually revolved around the fact that Minnesota was following him around the court. When they would push him off the three-point line, he would funnel to the paint and be met with a pass from Derik Queen or Jeremiah Fears. It was a great sign for the team after the news of Williamson's latest injury.
