Game Preview: New Orleans Pelicans vs. Sacramento Kings - 2/9/26 cover image

The New Orleans Pelicans seek momentum against a struggling Sacramento Kings squad battling injuries and a 12-game skid.

The New Orleans Pelicans are coming off an impressive road win over the Minnesota Timberwolves and now have their first home game of February against a struggling Sacramento Kings squad.

The Pelicans and the Kings have been on somewhat of a race to the bottom, unfortunate for two teams that entered the year with hopes of a playoff run. New Orleans has a chance to put some distance between them with a win, as they stand at 14-40 and Sacramento is at 12-42.

The Kings are currently on a 12-game losing streak, and the Pelicans are 5-7 in that same stretch.

This is a New Orleans team that is playing its best basketball of the season, and a Sacramento team that is very much down on its luck.

New Orleans Pelicans vs. Sacramento Kings Injury Updates

The Pelicans still have Dejounte Murray out with an injury, along with Hunter Dickinson and Trey Alexander on G League assignments. Nothing has changed for New Orleans.

Murray had hinted at a February return. Only time will tell if that actually happens, but there have been no updates yet.

The Kings have been bitten hard by the injury bug. Zach LaVine, De'Andre Hunter, Malik Monk, Keegan Murray and Isaiah Stevens (G League) are all ruled out. Domantas Sabonis and Doug McDermott are listed as questionable.

Sacramento is clearly tanking, even if their season didn't start with that in mind, so it would be surprising to see the questionable players push to try to play.

Key to Victory for New Orleans Pelicans vs. Sacramento Kings

Just keep doing what they're doing.

It might be oversimplifying things, but the Pelicans are just playing better basketball right now. Something they don't get to say often. There is no reason to overthink or try to do too much. This new all-big starting lineup has been good. The Kings have no one to stop Zion Williamson, Saddiq Bey has been cooking and Trey Murphy looks like a superstar right now. That should be enough.
