It feels like it was not too long ago that the New Orleans Pelicans were feeling good about themselves despite their record. Things have gotten dire again, with six straight losses bringing them to 8-28.
Sunday night won't bring an easy matchup for them as they travel to take on the 19-16 Miami Heat, who play well at home and have won four of their last five games. This is the second half of a back-to-back for them, though, after losing to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday.
The Heat have a historically fast-paced offense, rebound well and play solid defense. This is going to be a tough task for the Pelicans, who will at least have a little better of an injury situation than they did on Friday.
Here is a quick rundown of important information to know before the game tips off on Sunday:
Date: Sunday, January 4, 2026

New Orleans gets Trey Murphy and Derik Queen back from injury, which should help out their offense in major ways. Things will be less dire with Zion Williamson off the court this time around. Saddiq Bey, Herb Jones and Dejounte Murray remain out.
Miami will be without Tyler Herro and Jaime Jaquez Jr. Two big players, but they are deep enough to make up for it.
