The New Orleans Pelicans reportedly worked out Howard Bison guard Bryce Harris this weekend, ahead of the 2026 NBA draft.

The New Orleans Pelicans have their head coach in place, finally, and he has filled out much of his staff. The team finally has a chance to take a deeper dive into the 2026 NBA draft, as that's really the next big thing to come in the offseason.

The Pelicans have begun to bring in some players for workouts. The latest that has been reported on was Howard Bison guard Bryce Harris, who worked out on Friday.

It's going to be an interesting draft process for New Orleans. They'll have some in-house guys who have been around for at least a year with the new front office regime, mixed with people coming in after the Jamahl Mosley hire. Perhaps Mosley and some of his hires have other players that they like, and could get the decision makers to take a further look at them.

Whoever had the idea to bring in Harris was sensible, at least. He matches what they need out of a guard, as it's one of the few spots on the roster that has too many mouths to feed.

The New York native averaged 17.3 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists on 47.9/39.0/78.0. That is eerily similar production to what the Pelicans got out of Saddiq Bey last year (17.7/5.6/2.5 on 45.1/36.7/84.1), except out of a guard. Harris does the hard work and brings the effort that this coaching staff is going to be calling for out of its players.

Across his five years with the Bison, Harris was named to the All-MEAC team twice, the MEAC All-Defense team twice, and was this past season's MEAC player of the year. He is a big guard at 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, and he uses it to his advantage whenever possible.

Harris is probably someone who would be available in the second round when New Orleans comes around, or potentially even after the draft as a free agent. Either way, the team could be getting good value.

All it takes is for one organization to fall in love with his tools and what he brings to the table. It would not be shocking if it were the Pelicans, given how much this coaching staff and front office praise defensive effort. Anyone who tries in the slightest on that end of the court will have a leg up. Harris certainly fits that mold.

This marks the second currently known workout for New Orleans, with the first one being Maryland Terrapins forward Solomon Washington.
