The New Orleans Pelicans are reportedly not pursuing a trade for Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown, aside from some reports.

Another day and another New Orleans Pelicans trade rumor that needed clarification. The Pelicans were one of the teams linked to the Boston Celtics in their quest to offload franchise star Jaylen Brown, but it does not look like a deal between the two will actually come to fruition.

NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype updated his reporting on the Brown market on Sunday. In it, he said the following, "[Teams], such as the New Orleans Pelicans, Houston Rockets, and Orlando Magic, who’ve been loosely linked to Brown, have been described as not in the mix.

That makes it pretty clear. New Orleans will not be the next home for Brown. It did make some sense for them to be interested, but it always seemed far-fetched that a deal would actually get done.

From the jump, it always seemed like the smoke on this deal was coming from the Celtics' side. They have been interested in Trey Murphy for some time and seem determined to trade Brown this offseason. Of course, they would want the speculation out there to get people talking about it.

Pelicans Roundtable can add to the reporting that no one spoken to on the Pelicans side ever really felt like a deal was going to materialize and that New Orleans had not seem super interested in the potential of a swap.

The Pelicans are going to need to pull off some sort of trade to make this team better. At least for now, it doesn’t look like that will be with Boston.
