The New Orleans Pelicans finally broke their nine-game losing streak on Friday night and will look to keep things going on Sunday afternoon against the Orlando Magic.
After a couple of weeks of bad news on the injury front, there was finally some good news on the Saturday update.
Here are how things currently look for the Pelicans, ahead of Sunday's matchup:
Jose Alvarado (left oblique strain) - Out
Hunter Dickinson (G-League two-way) - Out
Herb Jones (right ankle sprain) - Out
Dejounte Murray (right Achilles rupture) - Out
Saddiq Bey (right hip flexor strain) - Doubtful
Trey Murphy is finally off the injury report again after missing two games this month with back issues and being questionable before the last matchup. He's currently averaging 34.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.7 steals on 53.6/41.7/83.3 splits through the three games he has played in January.
Bey has been updgraded from being ruled out the day before the game to now being doubtful. He still may not play, but that's positive movement for an important role player. Adding him back to the offense will give some relief to the starters.
Jones remains out for what will be his third game in a row and 18th game this season. This ankle issue has been a major thorn in New Orleans' side as they desperately need his defense to help them put together some wins.
This will also be the third game in a row without Alvarado, who has been an important bench piece for James Borrego.
Here is the Magic's injury situation:
Colin Castleton (G-League two-way) - Out
Jalen Suggs (right knee MCL contusion) - Out
Franz Wagner (left high ankle sprain) - Out
Tristan de Silva (back spasms) - Questionable
Moritz Wagner (left knee injury recovery) - Probable
Suggs and Wagner are big pieces of the Orlando game plan that have missed a lot of time this year with injury. The Magic are still a fine team without them, but just not as good.
