The New Orleans Pelicans have returned from their preseason trip to Australia after playing two games and can now take a step back to reflect on everything they learned from the first action of the year.

This is a new group of players, a handful of fresh faces, so any chance that they get to work together before the season begins will help chemistry.

Head coach Willie Green also needs to see how they play together, so they can put together solid rotations to begin the year. Playing time is up for grabs for almost everyone right now.

Here are the Pelicans players that helped themselves the most while in Australia:

    Jeremiah Fears

It was quite the first two professional games for Fears, as he went through pretty much every emotion possible.

His willingness to get aggressive out of the jump was a huge win for New Orleans. He put up 15 shots in his first game. Even if only three of them went in, his not backing down from putting them up was a good sign.

He got to start the second game and had a much better night, shooting 50% from the field on 10 shots. He showcased some nice playmaking and an urge to drive to the basket.

    Zion Williamson

Williamson had no questions surrounding his playtime or anything like that, but he certainly won over favor in the public eye.

True to his word from media day, he truly looked like he did in college. He was quicker, more aggressive and even more willing to playmake for others. It was about as good of a two preseason game stretch that the could have asked for.

    Saddiq Bey

Bey has an interesting outlook on this season. He missed basketball for a year due to injury and needs to build his value back up before his contract ends next season. The best way for him to do that on this team is sort of being a jack of all trades. Similar to what Naji Marshall used to be.

The 26-year-old was active on defense and exploded on offense in the second game. He had 21 points, six rebounds and three assists in just 21 minutes. He shot 4-for-6 from deep. If he can do that in the regular season, he will be very involved in the rotation.

    Kevon Looney

The only remaining spots in the starting lineup that is still up in the air is at center. Yves Missi started all of last year and is a bit bigger, but Looney has the experience edge.

Looney also made his case for the starting lineup during the preseason, as he looked to work well with the other starters as he started both games. His chemistry with Jordan Poole could be crucial. Right now, he looks most likely to start the season in the top role.
