There was an interesting comment left on New Orleans Pelicans star Trey Murphy's Instagram by Memphis Grizzlies star Ty Jerome.

Teams have been circling the New Orleans Pelicans like vultures for the past calendar year, hoping the team will give up and trade Trey Murphy, but the Pelicans have held off. Ok Friday, though, another NBA player made some potential public recruiting efforts.

With the Pelicans off on Friday, Murphy made an innocent Instagram photo dump post. Memphis Grizzlies breakout star guard Ty Jerome commented under that post, “streets said you coming to the grizz." (Tyler Shough also commented the goat emoji for all New Orleans Saints fans).

This is mostly just an innocent joke. Trade rumors happen all the time, but this situation further shows just how Murphy is viewed around the league. Even if it is a joke, as a point guard, Jerome would surely love to actually play with Murphy.

The rumors that Jerome are talking about this time likely stem from a report by Chris Dodson of ClutchPoints earlier on Friday, which named the Grizzlies as one of the teams known to be monitoring the Pelicans' trade block.

Murphy has been in trade talks for a long time, though, and nothing has really changed on the Pelicans' front. They aren't in a rush to move him. They want to win games, and Murphy being on the team gives them the best chance to do that. That being said, they realize he is someone who could potentially fetch a ton of assets, and this is a business after all. If someone wanted to "overpay" for the forward, perhaps they would budge.

The talks haven't slowed down any this season, because Murphy's role has seemingly taken a dip now that the team is fully healthy. It's very early, but he's getting about four less shots and two less threes per game compared to last year. He averaged 21.5 points last season, and has now had 14.2 points per game this season.

He did have one game like last year, though, when he took 17 shots and had 26 points against the Denver Nuggets. He is still very capable, but that's when he is aggressive and his teammates are sharing the ball. There have also been a few moments that could be construed as frustration.

Overall, there isn't really any reason to expect a move to be coming any time soon. The team hasn't indicated any increased willingness to move him and it is still very early into the season and this is a new offense with new roles. Perhaps the conversation can be revisited closer to the deadline.
