The New Orleans Pelicans could eye Arkansas Razorbacks big man Trevon Brazile in the second round of the 2026 NBA mock draft.
The New Orleans Pelicans have a great talent evaluator in Troy Weaver and an aggressive leader in Joe Dumars, so they should never be counted out to grab a player that they like.
They have a second-round pick from the Detroit Pistons to work with in this year's draft, but have not ruled out the possibility of going higher. Right now, though, the focus should be on the players who will be available in the second round, whom the Pelicans could consider.
Continuing to go through second-round options, one player who makes sense is Arkansas Razorbacks forward/center Trevon Brazile. Brazile is a defense-first, 6-foot-10, 230-pound big who could add a bit of size to the Pelicans' more finesse-focused front court.
The Springfield, Missouri native committed to the Missouri Tigers coming out of high school as a three-star recruit and started as a freshman. He has spent the last four years with the Razorbacks, where he has become a crucial part of their operation.
He was once viewed as a first-round pick, but tore his ACL as a sophomore and it sort of derailed things. He looked closest to his old form this past season.
Brazile averaged 13.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.6 blocks per game on 52.5/34.1/71.7 shooting splits. That 34.1% from three came on 3.7 attempts, which is fantastic volume and efficiency for someone his size.
The 23-year-old is known for his athletic upside, floor-stretching ability and his long arms allowing him great defensive versatility. He would be a fantastic player to add to the frontcourt with Derik Queen, Zion Williamson and Yves Missi.
A main target for New Orleans has been Miami Heat center Kel'el Ware. The Heat are expected to have people up for trade, but that doesn't mean it'll be easy to land them. Brazile would be a nice backup option should that fail, as he at least does a lot of the same things on paper.
The Pelicans need someone who can space the floor all over the court, but especially in the front court. Their best shooting option right now is Karlo Matkovic, who has averaged 16.4 minutes a night for his career.
