Cade Cunningham didn’t hold back after Game 7 loss
While the emotions were still raw after losing so handedly to the Cleveland Cavs at home in Game 7, Pistons point guard Cade Cunningham spoke about his honest reaction to Detroit’s season ending so suddenly:
”That game sucked,” Cunningham said. “Being back home, definitely wanted to get this win in front of fans. It reminded me of last year and losing on the home court. It’s not a great feeling. I hadn’t been thinking about the offseason, so my mind’s been racing now trying to figure out what I’ve got to do, what it’s going to look like. That’s really it.”
In the aftermath of the Pistons’ season-ending loss, it’s important to balance how far Detroit has come this season with the reality that their mid-year success likely led to a recalibration of expectations on the fly for a squad that took ownership of the East’s top position so early back in November. That’s difficult to keep in mind after such a tough loss to a division rival in the playoffs, but that’s what Detroit now faces with the offseason arriving earlier than they expected.
